Fishing

I went to see what Zachary was up to in the bathroom.  When I walked in I asked...

"Zack what are you doing?"  He simply replied...

"Fishing."

Thankfully he didn't realize he needed to have string long enough to reach the water. 

Juno Cup March 27 2009

Zachary and I attended the 6th Annual Juno Cup here in Vancouver.  It is an event that mixes music with sport, matching NHL alumni with top artists and entertainers.  NHLers vs. Rockers.  Michael Landsberg was the voice of the evening, and he was pretty funny.

  

I was thrilled to see Lanny McDonald!  He was the man of the game.  He is still an amazing hockey player and great man.  Zachary and I were sitting with Darcy and Debbie in the corner right at ice level.  Whenever Lanny would come around he would wave at Zachary.  While they were warming up before the final period (they played to periods with a skills compition between) Lanny came over to Zachary and told him he liked his hat.  Then he tried to toss a puck over to him but the net above the glass was in the way so Darcy met him over where he could toss it over.

Zack was thrilled!!

Zachary and I decided to leave before the game was over and went to the glass behind the bench to say good bye to Lanny.  It was the cutest thing to see Zachary waving at Lanny, and Lanny being the great man he is, had Zack meet him at the edge of the glass to shake his hand and give him a High 5.  It was a great evening for the both of us.  I only wish I had snapped a picture of the fair-well between those two, but it will forever be a picture in my mind.

Oh ya there is another story for this story.  First of all the game was at UBC Thunderbird Stadium which is quite a distance from our home in Langley (took us about 2 hours to get there).  We were driving down the highway and Zachary had his window open... he also had his ticket in hand... well until he dropped it out the window.  Yup dropped his ticket to the game right out the window on Highway 1 westbound.  Lucky for him we happened to be crawling along in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic.  So I pulled over (in shock) and gave him the lecture of things out the window.  I told him we were not able to go now because he didn't have a ticket.  Not wanting to have to continue in traffic only to turn back home, I got out of the truck and walked back a bit to where I could see the ticket right in the middle of the road.  Since it was slow moving traffic I was able to walk out and get the ticket.  I don't think it will happen again... I think it would be less likely to happen again if we had lost the ticket for good out the window.  But lesson is learnt for both of us... don't put ANYTHING out the window... and do not give kids tickets until you are at the game.

The swing is for Jonas but has been taken over by Zachary.  You can always find him chillin in this swing... and why not, looks comfy to me.  I grew up with a swing in a tree in my backyard, Zachary gets to have one right in his living room.

I was watching Oprah and Zachary asked what I was watching, "Oprah" I said.

"Opa?... thats not Opa.  Opa is a boy." Zachary replied.

"Not Opa... OP-Rah."

Dancing with the Starts... or Jonas

Last night I was watching Dancing with the Stars.  The kids where eating dinner and I was in the kitchen.  I could hear Zachary sliding Jonas around in his high chair.  When I asked Zachary what he was doing he told me he was dancing with Jonas.  I had to grab a camera and this is what I captured...

"I wanna email this to Oma"

Zachary took this picture and then told me he wanted to email it to Oma. He also wanted me to print it. We didn't get a chance to print the picture and a couple days later when I was showing the picture to a friend Zack also told them that I was going to print it. Again he never forgets a thing.

The Family gets bigger

Congratulations to my cousin Amy and her husband John on the healthy arrival of their first born Rylynn Marie Lang born March 16th.
Gramma and Grandpa Greaves now have 6 great grandchildren.

Bailey the Begal

Good friends Debbie and Darcy have a new family member, Bailey the begal. We had the little family over for food, hockey and good ol' fun. Of course the kids loved having the young pup over to play.

Zack the Drummer Boy

Zachary's preschool class had a field trip yesterday to 'Long & Mcquade' the music store. They have every instrument you could think of. The kids had a private tour of the store and a look at all the instruments. At the end of the tour they all had a chance to play the drums for a moment. Here is Zack ( I had run out to the car to get my camera when Zack was about 4th in line and he had already begun to play when I came in, so sorry it is short). Enjoy

Crumbs

Zachary and I were having lunch together while Jonas was sleeping. We were having grilled cheese sandwiches. I finished and when into the living room.
Then Zack called "I'm done."
"let me see" I said because I know many times he is not actually finished.
"Its just the crumbs" he said as he brought his plate over to me,"I don't like the crumbs".
I had to giggle to myself, it wasn't just crumbs it was the crusts.
