A Christmas Wish

So Simple

When I asked Jonas what he wanted for Christmas, his reply was "presents". So simple. Zachary has a small list of specifics, but Jonas just wants presents. I then asked if we wanted anything else, and after a little thought he said "treats". He said it with such excitement and sincerity that I'm pretty sure he will be very happy with the fact that there will be presents and treats Christmas morning.

Happy Birthday Jo

Side by side,
or miles apart,
a sister like you Jo,
is close to my heart!

Thank you for always being by my side. I know you are always there for me - standing next to me or watching my back. There is no stronger bond than the one between sisters. Sisters are best friends you can't get rid of ;) Thank you for being my best friend - your stuck being my sister forever. You are a special person in my life and in the lives of my children. We all love you so much. Happy Birthday!

Love Krista, Scott, Zachary and the bonus - from Jonas :)

Soccer Super Star

Weather permitting this Saturday will be Zachary's last soccer game in 2010. I am so proud of my little soccer super star. He has had a fantastic start to the season. He picks up skills and improves every game. We love to watch him play. Jonas is anxious to get out on the field too.
Stay tuned for highlights in 2011.

Oh Christmas Tree

Here is a picture of the Christmas tree in our home that Sarah and the kids decorated. The other is a picture of a tree that Zachary made at his daycare (so this creation was all from memory). He pays close attention to detail. Notice the music notes and even the skating snowman in the bottom left corner.

Tis the season for giving

This morning after breakfast, Zachary asked me if he could sell his toys to kids who don't have any. I don't think he meant sell, but it was such a wonderful thing to hear from him. I gave him a bag, and he and Jonas gathered toys that they didn't feel the needed any more. There were a few that Jonas tried to add, that Zachary wasn't ready to part with.

A proud moment as a parent.

It was here and now its gone.

We had a big dump of snow yesterday and we took full advantage. The boys, Sarah and I went sliding. Today is another story. It has been plus weather and rain. No more snow. One day of white followed with another of green.

Here are some pictures from our sliding adventure...

Jonas thought his sled was better for shovelling snow.

It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas

The morning our of first snow fall, Zachary looks outside to find snow covering the ground.
He squeals "snow?!...CHRISTMAS!! ITS CHRISTMAS!"

I can only imagine what he will think this morning when he sees a lot more snow, and it still falling from the sky.

C-C-C-Cold

Well I know it really isn't that cold, but t
he Vancouver area just broke a 25 year record for cold temperatures. Today's high will be -7. Sure, that isn't cold for my Ontario family, but when we haven't been exposed to this cold in sometime, it sure feels like -50!

Of all the years of my dear mother in law trying to se
nd out winter gear for the kids, I finally feel like I should have accepted in the past. Every time she told me she had something, I had to remind her that we didn't really get winter, and that the gear would be used more there than here. Not this year. Winter is a coming!

I do find some joy in watching my poor roommate suffer. Sarah hasn't been exposed to these types of temperatures in about 6 years. Never mind the lowest temperature she has had to deal with in the last few years, she would've still been able to wear flip flops. She has continuously told me that she refuses to pack away her flip flops...
I think she has quickly changed her mind.

Its cold not matter how you look at it... anything below zero for me is cold... period. The day that we did have snow just seemed to make it more bearable. I guess when you see cold you just don't feel the cold. You dress more accordingly, and prepare yourself. The temperature is supposed to rise again, but it will still be chilly. They say that we are in for a wicked winter (wicked for this part of the country - you Eastern family I'm sure are laughing at me). And now since I imagine the ground is close to being frozen, the next snow fall / mixed precipitation will have a nasty result.
After watching the weather channel last night with Sarah, the only comfort we found was in the temperatures in Alberta were ridiculously cold. So we didn't feel so bad about how we had it here.

First Day of Snow

We had our first snow fall last night. There wasn't much, and it will not be around long. But the boys were thrilled and just had to get out and play in it. Snow days are never complete without building a snowman.

Zachary rolls the balls to build each part of his snow man... while Jonas eats the snow.

It is much easier to stack your snowman when you are taller than it.

The boys and I enjoyed some sunshine on a beautiful fall day at the park. The days are getting colder now, but it is nice to see sunshine.

Zachary's First Soccer Game

This is Zachary's first year playing soccer. He wears number 6, and his team is called the Leopards.
Here is a quick look at his first game September 18th 2010.

Zachary has soccer practice every Thursday and a game every Saturday. It is so much fun to watch him play. He really seems to love the game.

Pumpkin Patch and Apple Farm

It was a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend. The kids and I went with our friends the Fettback family to the Applebarn Pumpkin Farm in Abbotsford. The kids had a blast jumping on a gigantic pillow, going for a hay ride, looking at pumpkins and picking our own apples.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner with a turkey and all the fixings. We had hoped to have Thanksgiving with Scott, and when we heard he wouldn't be able to come home, we weren't sure what we should do. Last minute we decided to cook a turkey and all the other yummy holiday sides. It was the first turkey Sarah and I had ever made. We have managed to go this long without. I's nice when you have Gramma's turkey or a tasty turkey prepared by Scott and Nick. All those amazing home cooked Thanksgiving dinners by mom and dad.
Well I am happy to say it was a success. It was a nice quiet Thanksgiving dinner, just me and the boys with Sarah and Colleen.

I am so thankful for the friends and family I have in my life. I am thankful for the wonderful memories I have from all the fabulous Thanksgiving dinners I have be able to share with loved ones. I am thankful for the freedom we have in the country we live. I am thankful that there has always been food on my table.
Zachary is thankful for having a great dinner.

Love to all this holiday weekend.

Zachary's Artwork - hockey card

Zack drew this picture and wanted to cut it out. It is a hockey card. And it even has 'points' on the back.

Hug

After a traumatic spider incident for Zack, I asked him if he needed a hug as he climbed back onto his bed. There was a pause... then from the bottom bunk a little voice from Jonas said "I want a hug mommy".

I don't think I could ever resist. I could hug them a zillion times everyday and never tire from it.

Who did it???

Standing in the kitchen one evening, Sarah and I were chatting when she noticed something interesting on the fridge. She asked if I did it, and I replied "did what?". As we looked at the alphabet magnets on the fridge we noticed they had all been lined up along the edge.

Then Sarah pointed out that they were lined up all the right way. Not in order, but all facing the same way with the bottom of the letters along the edge. Both boys have shown that they like to line things up. Jonas plays with these magnets most often... but who did it? My guess is someone very clever.

Who do you think?

First Day of Kindergarden!

Well sort of... Sadly I wasn't able to bring Zachary to school on his first day. There was a camera sent along for pictures, but the memory card was full.
Here are Zachary's first day 'of mommy bringing him to school' pictures.

Ready to go!

Walking up to the school.

Waiting outside his class room door. The younger classes at JKE have their own entrance to class.

Last peek inside as he puts his backpack on his special hook.

Thank You : for your patience

Thank you for your patience. I do apologize for the long wait you have been experiencing. I have a line up of great posts... we have had a glorious summer and Zack, not only just started school, but is on a soccer team as well.
I've been experiencing some technical difficulties and appreciate your patience during this time. As soon as I have some photos uploaded I will be posting away. I will try to keep them in order of occurrence, but I can't make any promises.

Thanks again and stay tuned :)

First meeting... worth the wait

Back in March my brother and his wife welcomed the the world, a beautiful baby girl. I haven't had the chance to make the trip to Ontario to meet her, until now. I was thrilled to finally meet my niece Baylee for the first time. She is even more amazing in real life, than she was in the pictures I had seen. I even made her giggle yesterday!

Definitely worth the wait!!
